I haven't read any of those books. Heard good reviews about The World is Flat and The Reluctant Fundamentalist. Tim Harford is good too.

But when you are in Hyderabad, visit the Crosswords store in City Center, Banjara Hills. I am sure you'll find most of those books there.

William Dalrymple's City of Djinns is a very interesting read, not too heavy as The Last Mughal. It is a book about Delhi, I live in Delhi and yet there were things I learnt about the city from the book. A review of the book is among my drafts on wordpress, only lazy me does not finish it. :(

There was a play recently staged on City of Djinns in Delhi starring Zohra Sehgal and Tom Alter. I heard it was as good.

The Reluctant fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid is on my wish list too. Don't care much about finance and economics books though. :(

I'm a fan of Thomas Friedman myself. I think his best work is really From Beirut to Jerusalem. The World is Flat is pretty entertaining and builds on many of the ideas he first brought up in The Lexus and the Olive Tree (which was itself a brilliant book and the first of Friedman's I ever read).

Tim Harford's book is quite good. If you want something similar, Robert Frank has a book called The Economic Naturalist that's quite similar but more straightforward in that it examines the economic reasons for otherwise ordinary things.
