On this trip to Hyderabad, i bought some books from the book hawkers on the footpaths. The ones i managed to accumulate
The Intelligent Investor – Benjamin Graham
Freakonomics – Steven Levitt
The Reluctant Fundamentalist – Mohsin Hamid
Straight From The Gut – Jack Welch
Kaoboys of R&AW – B Raman
….and a very sweet friend of mine gifted me “The 80/20 Principle – Richard Koch”
Guess how much the whole stuff cost me? Around 1500 rupees (USD 37 approx). The same books on Amazon would have costed me around USD 150.

I have to agree with JB,, Freakonomics is one of the best science/maths books I’ve read in a long time and makes you think too, always the sign of a good book.
JB,
yup even though some of the points that Levitt puts forth sound controversial, he does back it up with some solid research.
Sure Dinsan. Will write a review once i finish the book.
Freakonomics is something that I am looking for.. since my reading habit was dying down .. i couldnt do much about it yet.. but I am seeing some improvement in myself now … u must write a review after you finish it : ) will wait for that
Freakonomics is a fantastic book.
Lots of people though find issue with what Levitt has to say, in particular his association of abortion and crime. But to me, he makes a lot of sense.
On the other hand, I think very little of Jack Welsh.
