I have been reading about Mumbai history over the holidays. I find it fascinating how America Civil War was connected with Mumbai’s industrial revolution and how it also provided wealth to Premchand Roychand to fund Rajabai Tower of Bombay University as a clock tower to allow his blind mother keep time. Here’s a picture of Rajabai Tower during construction. There is no Azad Maidan because the reclamation project was still a few years away.

Greed was there in 1860s and so were bubbles.
