Not that I’m advocating we name everything after a politician but why pick on the Congress when we have named half the things in Mumbai after Chhatrapati Shivaji? Im sure he had nothing to do with the airport or the museum or the train station.

I agree with most of the points u said in dis post….. Why is it so that every govt in India names mega projects on the dead leaders of their own party??? Why couldn’t the Bandra-Worli Sea Link be just ‘Bandra-Worli Sea Link….?? Or if u want to dedicate it to someone, why not the martyrs of the last year’s attacks? Why not on Hemant Karkare or Vijay Salaskar or Sandeep Unnikrishnan or for that matter any soldier who laid their lives in the terror act??? Its all about scoring brownie points n taking credit…. Shame on Indian politicians…..

I agree with all the points in this post! I think the bridge was opened in a hurry amid lot of carefully created hype .. jut to score brownie points before Maharashtra elections.

And you are right regarding the naming too! The original name was as good as it gets. It had a fancy abbreviation too BWSL! Naming landmarks after eminent (??) personalities is good – but overdoing it will result in public resentment. And I think the Gandhis have received more than their fair share of credit in this department. Now its time to look for other people to lend their names to landmarks.

Gandhistan eh not entirely impossible. And excellent idea to name public toilets after these great great people! After all, the toilets also solve a pain point of the common man. Why not lend their names for his noble cause

I had no clue that the bridge was still incomplete…with all the hoopla surrounding the inauguration I thought it was perfect and complete .

is it any wonder?
like you said, whether the Congress or any other party they are all the same…who wants these names anyway?

and oh yes! the naming of toilets after these GREAT personalities would be noble indeed
