Ok. So, the results are here and so is the results of the poll on this blog.  Though not as famous as the ones on IBN or NDTV or some other media, just 20 odd people voted here.  I wish i had put up the poll a month ago when India started voting, but it never came to my mind.  Anyways, now that the results are here, i would like to take off the polls as it serves no purpose anymore.

Given below is the results on the poll on this blog

election resultsAccording to the latest trends and the declared results, its been a virtual sweep for the UPA.  The NDA has been utterly humiliated in a lot of places. There are several reasons for both the results but the most important lesson for BJP is this.  LK Advani will NEVER be the PM of India.  NEVER. Dump him and his kind of politics if it really wants to challenge the Congress / UPA on a pan-India basis.  The only reason why the NDA / BJP won the elections in 1999 was because it had a moderate leader in the form of AB Vajpayee.

BJP / NDA lost the elections the moment it declared Advani as its PM candidate.  In one stroke, not only did it alienate all the minority votes, but also the moderate Hindus. Same is the case with Modi.  I have always believed that Modi would remain confined to Gujarat as its probably the only state where his type of politics work.  It has been confirmed again in this election.

The also rans and regional parties have also bitten the dust.  The message is simple, the people of India are fed up of regional, communal, communist and other divisive characters.  Time to strengthen the hands of a government that can unite people and not divide them on the basis of religion, region, caste, creed etc.

I would love to do a detailed analysis of this elections.  But that’s only after a few days.  Would like to see the voting patterns in all the states, the percentage of votes etc and then write.  Meanwhile here is the leads / results as at 1930 hrs (IST) on 16th May 2009.

UPA  – Won 192 – Lead 66 – Total 258

NDA – Won 123 – Lead 41 – Total 164

Third Front – Won 53 – Lead 24 – Total 77

Others – Won 29 – Lead 15 – Total 44

The BJP abused Sonia Gandhi in 2004 and lost.  They abused Manmohan Singh in 2009 and lost.  What does that prove?  A significant number of Indians might be uneducated and poor, but one thing that they do realise is that they never give into negative campaigning.

The “goongi gudiya“, “baccha” kind of comments are only good for claps.  They dont fetch you votes.  The earlier the BJP realises this, the better it is for Indian politics. And when, Manmohan Singh said these words, he hit the nail on the head

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Friday said he did not wish to have a live television debate with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani, as he did not want to accord him the privilege of being an alternative prime minister.

Bingo.

The commies can go back to the gutter from where they came.  Or else, they can migrate back to their mother country China as its their dictates that they follow anyway.

3 cheers to the public of the country.  3 cheers to the Election Commission of India for running a free and fair and relatively incident free elction.

Criminals in Indian elections – Phase 2

7

Posted by Liju Philip | Posted in bjp, congress, elections, India, Politics, World | Posted on 25-04-2009

criminals

A list of the number of people with criminal records in the current elections.  No matter all the rhetoric about cleaner candidates and elections, this poll has also fallen prey to people with shady characters.

Congress is the worst with 40 criminals out of 112 which means that a third of the candidates from India’s grand old party has a criminal record.  Its biggest competitor, BJP is not far behind with 27 of the 105 candidates with criminal records.  Mind you, these are only the candidates for the 2nd phase of elections. It just gives you an idea of how many are standing for elections in the other 4 phases.

If only, the voting public would see through the dirty games of the political parties and avoid them.  But then, with the kind of morons that make up our voting public, i wont be surprised to see most of these criminals in power soon.

The joke that is Varun Gandhi

After claiming that the CD was doctored and still being booked by a ruthless Mayawati under National Security Act (NSA)  who would go to any extent to clamp down on any opposition to her on her turf.  Varun Gandhi’s another lie has been nailed.

This time, the London School of Economics (LSE) has confirmed that Varun Gandhi has never studied there contradicting Varun’s assertion in the court.

Now, the fun begins when the court will try Varun for perjury.  Varun should have had indicated that he was a student of the chaddi gang shakha in Pilibhit rather than LSE.  That would have sounded more convincing :P

More fun elsewhere as Samajwadi Party’s candidate, Sanjay Dutt has been denied permission by the Supreme court to stand in the elections. Hahahaha.

Read this article for the irony of the Varun Gandhi case.

Elections are here and the hunting dogs are out

As elections close by, all the hunting dogs of the chaddi gang (BJP, Shiv Sena, ABVP, Ram Sene, Bajrang Dal etc..) are out in full force.  First it was the Ram Sene molesting / beating up women in a pub in Mangalore and now the some more morons beating up women in full public glare in Bangalore.

Am not surprised that everytime BJP comes into power in any state, we start to see their favourite brand of hate politics happening.  Once the master is in power, the dogs are out hounding and trying to impose their talibanic version of culture and religion on people.  It happened in Gujarat, Orissa and now in Karnataka.  Not to mention Madhya Pradesh and UP where such things happen with alarming regularity.

Read the full news about the attacks on hapless women by some eunuchs and Taliban of Indian culture.

Vote out BJP and its chaddi gang friends. Make a strong point that we will not cow down to some religious morons who try to impose their lifestyle on us.  That we will not bow down to the politics of hate. The constitution of India gives us the right to live our lives according to our own wish as long as we dont break the rules of the land.  Its the chaddi gang members who are breaking the law.

Its time for the women to fight back.  Take a moment and think.  You might believe that since you were not attacked, this doesnt concern you.  Yesterday, it was someone in Mangalore, today it was someone in Bangalore, tomorrow it could be you.

So, what can you do?  Pressurise the police to act on them.  Each one file a case on all the fellows who you think are involved in this.  Write to the media, appear on the media, make your voice heard.  The next time a politician comes begging for votes, ask him to first arrest the goons and lock them up, get them sentenced and then only come to you for votes.  Geraho the politicians and make them give public assurances and act upon them.  File FIR against the leaders of hate, file a PIL in the Supreme Court against the ‘Ye dur dur dur appa’  government for sitting back like a eunuch and watching the fun when they were elected to protect us from such morons.

Fight back.

10 years since Pokhran-2

Popular tales suggest that when Bill Clinton (the then President of US) was informed of the nuclear weapons testing by India in 1998, he banged his fist on the table and lamented that he would never be able to visit the Taj Mahal. The USA had to impose sanctions on India for the testing and there was no way the US President could travel to a country on which it had imposed sanctions. This is what i read in one of the articles, but cant seem to find any written documents to back it up, so lets leave it as an ‘urban legend’. Of course, everyone knows that Bill Clinton later on turned out to be a self confessed Indophile; a hard core supporter of India.

Everyone knows the aftermath of the testing, sanctions were imposed on India by the US, Japan and a host of countries. All form of technological assistance was frozen. And all forms of aid was cut.

10 years hence, the US accepts that India is indeed a nuclear power and offers an exclusive nuclear deal; the first such effort for a country that has refused to sign the discriminatory Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT). We are still bickering over the fine print of the deal. With elections around, i don’t see any party in power having the guts to go ahead with the deal. But one thing is for sure. Whichever party comes to power (either BJP or Congress) after the elections, is going to sign the treaty.

And for all those who worry that the timeline for the deal is expiring, can relax. India is too big a market for the US to ignore. The nuclear deal is just the beginning. India is planning to spend close to US$100 billion over the next 15-20 years to upgrade its military. And the US is not so stupid to antagonise any of the Indian political class and miss out on the cherry.

Ten years ago, on May 11, 1998, the Buddha smiled once again in the deserts of Rajasthan as the country undertook a series of nuclear tests in the Pokhran field range. The first-ever nuclear test by the country, code named ‘Smiling Buddha’, was also conducted in the same place on May 19, 1974.

The area of the tests is still kept under tight security. There are four gates spread over a 3.5 sq km area. The first is known as Kohinoor Gate and the last, Bhoochal Gate. But soon, footfalls in the sands which saw India’s strategic coming of age could increase as the government goes ahead with plans to set up a war museum in the Pokhran range.

“We are trying to set up a model of the Khetolai village in Pokhran where the blasts took place. A war museum would be set up here and the help of the Army and BSF has been sought to set up the museum,” said Ambarish Kumar, district collector, Jaisalmer.

Interestingly, then CIA director, George Tenet, in his book ‘At The Centre of Storm: My Years At The CIA’ admitted that India’s second nuclear explosion surprised the US. “In 1995, when the US got the hint that India was preparing for its second nuclear test, we managed to put pressure on India to stop it, but the US had no clue about the preparation of India in 1998 as our satellites failed to detect the preparations that were on in Pokhran.

Admittedly, it was our greatest failure and that gave us sleepless nights,” wrote Tenet.

Three laboratories had been set up for the purpose and the exact location where explosions took place later were being used for playing football and hockey. In all, 3,000 to 4,000 army personnel were involved, but hardly 100 knew the exact task they were involved in.
