Is China losing the Tibet plot?

After decades of the so called ‘peace struggle’ by the Dalai Lama, looks like the young Tibeteans are finally losing patience both with China and the Dalai Lama.

China’s worst-kept secret may be out for the whole world to see. Tibetan Opposition groups on Tuesday emailed pictures that show dead bodies, allegedly of Tibetan protestors killed by the Chinese forces on the streets of Lhasa.

The Tibetan groups claimed this was the scene in Aba County in China’s Sichuan province.

Another perennial needling point for China, Taiwan goes to the polls to elect its President this weekend and both the pro and anti China contenders are sharpening their claws.

The unrest in the Himalayan region and China’s response has turned a harsh spotlight on Taiwan’s own fraught relations with Beijing, which still claims sovereignty over the self-ruled island.

Election frontrunner Ma Ying-jeou, who has vowed closer ties and a peace treaty with China, has been forced onto the defensive against charges by his rival Frank Hsieh that Taiwan could end up like Tibet under Chinese rule.

Isnt life ironical? After decades of formenting trouble in Kashmir and other parts of India, Pakistan is in deep trouble with their own jehadi brothers bombing the hell out of Pakistan daily. China for decades supplied nuclear technology and weapons to Pakistan to contain and needle India. China never wanted a stable India as it never wanted to see India as any sort of economic, political or military rival to itself in Asia.

Today, China is rocked by riots in Tibet, in the muslim dominated area of Xinjiang, political heat emanating from Taiwan and daily riots by people displaced by growing wealth disparity.

Life’s finally coming full circle, eh? More about the farce that is China and its so called ‘peaceful rise’ here and here.
