Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na – Promo

Now, Aamir Khan is producing the debut vehicle for his nephew Imran Khan. Will he live up to his illustrious uncle’s name or fade away like his brother Faisal Khan? The music is by none other than AR Rahman. Mansoor Khan (director of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak) is back as producer. The movie is directed by Abbas Tyrewala (the writer of Munnabhai MBBS, Main Hoon Na).

The song is terrific. Its a long time we saw some decent college romance. Hope this one will take us back to the romantic movies of the 90s with some chartbusting songs. At least the promo looks good. The actress is none other than Genelia D’Souza (Boys and Bommarillu fame). The girl has got a terrific break into hindi movies.

Am rubbing my hands with glee. Two Aaamir Khan productions this year. Jaane Tu and Ghajini starring the big Khan himself. Whoops. It’s simple things like these that makes life interesting πŸ˜‰

  1. Never Mind says:

oooh…thats interesting! Although I am secretly praying Ghajini doesnt turn out to be a disaster with all the hype!

  2. Liju Philip says:

@NM, yup hope it doesnt turn out to be a Mangal Pandey.

  3. Poonam says:

You seem to be a BIG Amir Khan fan. πŸ™‚

  4. Liju Philip says:

@Poonam, yup Crompton Greaves fan πŸ˜‰

  5. idlidosa says:

i like the guy…good looking bloke πŸ˜€ An acctress from the south cannot get a better break than this. AR, abbas tyrewala and AK…great combo! seems to me like asin and G are the toast of the town soon πŸ™‚

  6. I’m waiting πŸ˜€ By the way, when is it releasing?

  7. idlidosa says:

@ krishna: i think it will be releasing sometime in july…along with ranbir kapoor’s new movie bachna ae haseeno πŸ™‚

  8. lazybug says:

The song’s good. Who’s the singer?

The editorial keeda in me is irked by the missing apostrophe in the tag line that appears at the end. Should be “it’s”.

  9. Liju Philip says:

@Ramya, the guy is good looking. Hope the years when south actresses dominated bollywood scene comes back πŸ˜‰

@Krishna, just the promos are out. Not sure of the release date. Even the music is yet to be released.

@Akhil, no idea about the singer. Need to wait for the music release. Btw, have done the necessary editing Editor saaaaarrrr πŸ˜‰

  10. Quirky Indian says:

Ghajini is a difficult concept to sell to the Hindi audience…..if anyone can do it is Aamir. Let’s hope the story is not mutilated beyond recognition…..

  11. Chittaranjan says:

Nice song that. Rahman’s done the music so it prolly will be good!

And Re:”south actresses dominated Bollywood”, who apart from Sridevi and Jaya Prada have done that?

  12. Liju Philip says:

@Quirky Indian, Aamir is already insisting on changing the climax of Ghajini. Even i felt that it was too over the top. Maybe good for the Tamil audience, but surely not palatable to the audience that the Hindi cinema caters to.

@Chittaranjan, add Hema Malini and Rekha to the list.

  13. idlidosa says:

@ Liju: Wonder why there are no telugu actresses these days…lerave alone the hindi film industry…atleast in the telugu film industry :-/

  14. idlidosa says:

@Chittaranjan: also add Viyajanthimala to the list πŸ˜€

  15. Liju Philip says:

@Ramya, probably because the telugu girls know the truth about the top actors, producers, directors in the industry πŸ˜‰ Remember how Krishna’s daughter (Mahesh’s sister) was forced to stop acting by the fan clubs? Such things dont happen in the hindi film industry.

Also the Bombay imports have no qualms showing off skin. Btw, there was a telugu girl, Laya rite?

  16. Chittaranjan says:

@Liju and Idlidosa: They’re all South-born actresses. Aren’t we talking abt heroines who have made a mark in the Telugu/Tamil industry and then went on to ace Bollywood as well?

  17. Liju Philip says:

we just clubbed together all southies πŸ˜‰

  18. Love Story 2050 also releasing on the same date.

In Harman Vs. Imran’s case, I would prefer Harman. A couple of reasons for this.

Aamir Khan might be a big star, but that doesn’t goes to say that anyone launched by Aamir will be a big star. Remember Faisal Khan? Aamir’s own brother. He had full support of Aamir, but what happaned to him? For all you know, Imran might meet the same fate.

Another point – Why would Aamit take Genelia, one of the most flop heroine of Bollywood as a heroine? I mean, how many fans does she has , apart from her own family?

Also, the director of the film is Abbas Tyrewala, the guy who used to write scripts before. In comparison, Love Story 2050 is directed by ace director Harry Baweja who gave us films like “Qayamat”, “Dilwale” etc. I trust Harry Baweja far more than Abbas Tyrewala.

Further, a look at Love Story 2050 ‘s promos makes you sit back and take notice. Love Story 2050 is an interesting film. Its a love story, but with exciting special effects and an intriguing story line. This might be India’s first sci-fi film. The budget of Harman’s costumes in Love Story 2050 alone must be equal to “Jaane Tu”‘s entire budget.

Boss, a multiplex ticket now costs Rs.250. I would rather go and watch Love Story 2050 than see some overrated and under-delivered performance by some over-hyped star-nephew.

  19. idlidosa says:

@Liju: Laya’s married now and moved to the US. She has officially given up movies πŸ™‚ There is Sindhura Gadde from New Zealand….but don’t know if we can classify her as Indian…leave alone an Andhrite πŸ˜€

@Chittaranjan: The trend has changed now. It was different when Rekahas and Hema Malinis were around. Not much competition then. If you are a classical dancer…and have beautiful eyes…you get lucky most of the times.

But times have changed. I reckon it’s easier to get into the southern film industry if you have a pretty face or have done some modelling or ads. Every big shot actor..be it Chiru, Venky, Nagarjuna, Mahesh Babu or the upcoming ones like Allu Arjun and Ram Charam Teja, they all want fresh faces in their movies….doesn’t matter if they are as old as their kids. Therefore, there is much more demand for newcomers in the Southern Film Industry than there was before. Many newcomers these days see the telugu/tamil film industry as a step towards Bollywood.

Bollywood is a different cup of tea. Actresses are not cast in a movie just for the sake of it…they get substantial roles and most of them go to already well established actresses like Rani or Priety. Where as in the Southern Film industry…this has just started.

If you taken Asin’s and Genelia’s case…they have already established themselves very well in the South and have moved to the Hindi film Industry. They were lucky enough to get roles in which they could excel and not just tag along the hero like dumbos.

  20. mangesh joshi says:

ya mmmmmmmm bbbbbbgggg fan of amir khan
coz he looks like my big brother

  21. ideli says:

    imran vs harman!!

Imran ne day hess cute!!! n faizal was bad n dumb to look at!! imran is soo coool!!

  22. k says:

if ghajini flops, we as an audience suck..
ghajini is inspiredby a brilliant film(memento, where the story unfolds in reverse order, its been simplified by making it normal sequence), and everyone’s gonna love asin and the music..

  23. ankita says:

Imraan is really gonna rock and , asImraan appears to be real a cool guy or saya smashing youngster and is looking great on screenand the actoress is looking too good with him!!!!!! my preference is to imraan than harman
    Imraan rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. farzana says:

songs r preety good .As usual rehman music will be awesome.i heard the album ,songs r pretty good.I gone throw script i think its common the same love story .But lets see the new actor imraans acting, well about heroin i knew her from south movies she is good and earned film fare ward for one of telugu movie

  25. Nad says:

    This one is for Ashi.
Nice comparision. Truly in favour of Harman. hahaha. Now don’t tell me you are not a Harman Fan, thrashing Jaane tu… left right and center. πŸ™‚
Moreover, you have trusted Harry Baweja..hahaha., and supported yourself saying that he has delivered movies like “qayamat” aka “The Rock (1996)” πŸ™‚ and Dilwale..hahahaha.. another great hit of 1870’s or something like 1990’s when all the movies were on the same subject. Triangular geometrical love stories..hahaha..

Love story 2050. What a shame! The director insists that our film industry will still churn out Love stories even in the year 2050. πŸ™‚ Great! Can’t get better than this.
This one will work with the masses who haven’t seen “Artificial Intelligence” (the teddy which priyanka is carrying is lifted from AI) and “Bicentinental Man” (The lady robot dancing is a clean lift from this movie) and god knows how many more are wrapped up in the entire movie.

Songs are terrible. Dancing is hrithik, I think that routine is now faded.
Best of luck to you all going to Love story 2050. May the sci fi power be with you πŸ™‚

  26. vishi_06 says:

    Dear Ashi
So boss, you think a multiplex ticket for 250 bucks can only be worthwile if the movie took some 250 million to make or what? Nice… really thought provoking guys!! Its quite obvious from your comments that u wont go for jtyjn even if your life depended on it, so here’s a suggestion, take a look at the two films promos from a start.

But then, why bother, all you’ll find is some of the best tracks A.R has given us in recent years. On the other hand look at love story 2050- uhhmm…great music!!….err…sci fi!!…flying machines..wow man!!( err, guys, could you help me out here, name at least one, track, please… dont seem to remember any, brains addled by all the sci fi radiations!!).
Then, direction- qayamat…wow man… pathbreaking stuff!!( Ashi, do you watch hollywood at all?? No? I thought so, here’s a reccommendation- try The Rock..)
Guys, Ashi’s right, dont go for this stupid jtyjn… all you’ll get are some rank newcomers under a rank new director in a rank new film…err, really… its just too fresh and sweet …might get diabetes…better stick to Hrithik-part-2 in artificial intelligence..I mean, Bicentennial man…sorry…whatever

At least, you’ll get your worth for 250 bucks!!
